Endocrine Disrupters: Silent Warning from the Great Lakes
Japan/1999/50min

Producer: KANECO Yoshikazu
Director: KURASAKO Keiji, MAEDA Kouichi

In the three years since "Our Stolen Future," accumulating information suggests endocrine disrupters harm the human brain. Children whose mothers ate fish contaminated by PCBs from the Great Lakes were found more likely to suffer mental deficiencies. These are believed to occur as chemical substances pass through the umbilical cord confusing hormone-producing glands, such as the thyroid, responsible for brain formation. This film captures a discussion between two experts, WWF's Dr. Theo Colborn, and Tachibana Takashi, to educate us about this crisis.
