The Sea Tells Us...
Japan/1999/49min

Producer: IWAMURA Satoshi
Director: TAKAMATSU Asuka

Isayaha Bay in Nagasaki Prefecture used to be Japan's largest tideland. Once supporting rich fisheries and bird migrations, it was separated from the ocean in 1997 by a public reclamation project. Today, migratory birds search for food elsewhere and those people whose existence was intertwined with the Bay struggle to find new paths in life. Yet the project proceeds without revealing its plan or purpose. In its shadow, we learn of the astonishing loss of nature it has wrought.
